The mid-market is built to underperform.
It does not have to.

Mid-market companies return roughly half the total shareholder value of large-cap companies. Not because the people are less capable, but because the structure is stacked against them. They are underfunded, under-modernized, and starved of the strategic leadership and technology advantage that large-cap enterprises use to compound their lead year after year.

The cost of failing to is not philosophical. It shows up in margin, in attrition, in enterprise value destroyed, and in time that does not come back.
